Jotlift is operated by Issa Zangana (ABN 55 482 265 411), a sole trader based in New South Wales, Australia, trading as Jotlift ("Jotlift", "we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what personal information we handle, why, and the choices you have. You can contact us any time at jotliftapp@gmail.com.
We built Jotlift to collect as little as possible and to keep you in control of your data. Most of Jotlift works with no account and nothing leaving your device.
Jotlift has three ways to use it, and each handles your data differently.
Without an account. Everything you log stays on your device. We collect nothing. Your workouts live in local storage on your phone, and you can export or import them at any time. If you delete the app without a backup, that data is gone, so we show a one-time reminder about this.
With a free account. Your full dataset, including your workout logs, exercises, routines, history, and your bodyweight and body measurements, is stored on our servers for backup and restore only. This lets you recover your data if you lose or change your device. Restoring to a single device is free and is never locked behind a payment. We do not use this stored data to run live sync or any paid feature.
With a paid subscription. In addition to backup, your data syncs live across your devices and powers the progression engine, routines, and Trends. If you cancel, your data stays. You keep your account and your backup, and you can restore or export at any time.
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address and the details needed to sign you in, so we can store and restore your backup. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier and email that service provides. We use Supabase for authentication and storage (see "Where your data is stored").
Your workout data. Your exercises, sets, reps, weights, routines, workout history, and any custom exercises or categories you create. With a free account or a subscription, this is stored on our servers as described above. This is fitness and health information, and we handle it as such.
Bodyweight and body measurements. If you record your bodyweight or measurements, this is sensitive health information. We store it only as part of your backup, walled off from everything else. We never analyse it, never use it for advertising, and never include it in usage analytics. It exists only so your own history and volume figures are complete and so you can restore it.
Purchase and subscription status. When you subscribe, the purchase is handled by the App Store or Google Play, and we use RevenueCat to confirm and manage your access. We receive your subscription status and the identifiers needed to keep your access correct. We never receive or store your card or bank details. The stores handle payment.
Usage analytics (opt-in, off by default). See the "Usage analytics" section below.
Technical basics. To deliver backup, sync, and purchases, our systems process the standard technical information needed to run a network service, such as the request needed to save or restore your data. We keep this to what is necessary to operate the app.
Analytics in Jotlift is first-party and in-house. We do not use any third-party analytics or tracking software, and we do not use an advertising identifier. Analytics is opt-in and off by default. If you never turn it on, nothing about your usage leaves your device.
If you turn it on, Jotlift records content-free usage events, for example that a workout was started or finished, that a screen was viewed, or that the paywall was opened. These events tell us which features are used and how people move through the app, so we can improve it. They never include the content of your logs, and never include your bodyweight or measurements.
These events are tied to a de-identified per-install analytics identifier. This is a random value generated on your device when you first opt in. It is separate from your account, it is not your email or your user id, and it is not used to identify you. We store these events with no path back to your account.
You can turn analytics off at any time in Settings, under Privacy. When you turn it off, collection stops immediately and any events still queued on your device are deleted. Usage events that were already sent are kept only in de-identified, aggregate form. Because they are not linked to you, we cannot trace them back to you or remove an individual person's events from them. Your account and backup data are separate, and can always be deleted in full (see "Your choices and rights" and our account deletion page).
We do not show ads inside Jotlift. If we ever promote Jotlift elsewhere, we build our own promotional material from our own general insight. We do not share your data with any advertising network, we do not use a tracking SDK, and we do not track you across other apps or websites. Because of this, Jotlift does not ask for app-tracking permission.
We do not sell your data, and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers to run Jotlift, and they act on our instructions as processors, not as independent users of your data:
Each handles data under its own terms and security. We do not give any of them your data for their own marketing.
Your account and backup data are stored on Supabase infrastructure in Sydney, Australia. Some of our providers, including RevenueCat and the app stores, operate overseas, including in the United States, so limited data such as your subscription status may be processed outside Australia. We take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles wherever it is processed.
Bodyweight and body measurements are sensitive health information. We collect them only if you choose to record them, we store them only for your backup, and we use them only to complete your own history and figures. We do not use them for any other purpose. By recording them with a free account or a subscription, you consent to us storing them for backup as described here.
Jotlift is intended for people aged at least 13, or older where local law requires a higher age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us at jotliftapp@gmail.com and we will delete it.
You can:
To make a request, email jotliftapp@gmail.com. We will respond within a reasonable time. If you are in Australia and are not satisfied with how we have handled your information, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
We protect your data with access controls, row-level security that ties your stored data to your account, and encryption in transit. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information, and we keep our backend surface small on purpose.
If Jotlift is ever sold or transferred as a business, your data may transfer with it as part of that change of ownership. Any new owner would be bound by the commitments in this policy, and would need to obtain fresh consent from you before using your data in a materially different way. We will let you know if ownership changes.
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top and, where the change is significant, tell you in the app.
